Even though, WLTP type approval has been mandated by the European Commission for all new models and engines since September 2017, the concrete labelling of WLTP values has not been scheduled as yet. The new protocol aims to provide customers with more realistic data, better reflecting the daily use of the vehicle. WLTP tillämpas på nya personbilsmodeller från den 1 september 2017, till nya personbilar som registrerats från och med den 1 september 2018 och är obligatorisk för alla EU-medlemsstater. Fram till slutet av 2020 kommer både bränsleförbrukning och CO 2 -utsläppsvärdena i WLTP och NEDC att anges i fordonsdokumenten.
